The first-ever Game 7 of the WNBA finals is in the fourth quarter, and history has already been made on both ends of the experience spectrum. While Angel Reese continues to rewrite the postseason record books in her first playoff run, veteran DeWanna Bonner added yet another notch to a career spanning over a decade. However, though they are at very different stages of their careers, the two Atlanta Dream stars are making history for the same reason: rebounding.

“Reese has officially passed A’ja Wilson for the most rebounds in a single playoff run in the history of the WNBA postseason with 121 (and counting),” an X post from @DraftKings read. Meanwhile, the WNBA’s communications account highlighted Bonner.

“With her second rebound tonight, DeWanna Bonner has reached 600 career postseason defensive rebounds, becoming the first player in WNBA history to reach the milestone.”

Reese’s moment came about five minutes into the game. After Veronica Burton missed a tough step-back three-pointer, Reese grabbed her first rebound of the game, marking her 121st board of the postseason. The previous mark of 120 belonged to five-time MVP Wilson in 2025, the season she won her third championship.

The Dream star has been particularly dominant on the boards over the Finals. Through the first six games, Reese logged 78 rebounds, the most by any single player in a Finals series, surpassing Sylvia Fowles’ mark of 75 boards. Reese did so while grabbing 14 rebounds in Game 6 to force a historic win-or-go-home series decider.

Bonner, meanwhile, accomplished her mark with 8:43 left in the second quarter. Similar to Reese, Bonner’s rebound came from a missed step-back three-point shot by Burton, making her the first player to reach 600 rebounds.

Bonner has held the overall postseason rebounding record of over 700 rebounds since overtaking Candace Parker’s mark of 610. Her current record puts her above both Parker and Wilson, who are more than 100 defensive boards behind her.

This comes as Atlanta looks to capture their first WNBA championship. This is the team’s fourth appearance in the Finals, after being swept in all of their previous appearances in the early 2010s. They forced a win-or-go-home Game 7 after going down 3-2 in the ongoing series to the Golden State Valkyries.

Reese was central to cementing that comeback in Game 6, finishing with a 15-point, 14-rebound double-double. While Bonner didn’t make much of a statistical contribution, finishing with two missed shots and one rebound.

Now, on the same night, both Reese and Bonner have made sure their names are going to be a part of WNBA history.
