AC Milan return to action tonight, facing Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in the third game of their Europa League campaign.
The games are coming thick and fast for Milan, as they expected. It’s been a solid month so far, too. They’ve picked up big wins against Salzburg and Atalanta – this weekend – and whilst the draw with Sassuolo was frustrating, it was acceptable immediately after the break.
Ruben Amorim’s tactical changes have been applauded by the Italian media as well, with the Portuguese coach clearly learning from his errors made in Manchester. It’s a very positive position to be in.
Tonight, though, they will face perhaps their biggest challenge of the season so far.
Bournemouth have been one of the stories of recent years in English football; their continual rise has been fantastic and the Rossoneri will face a significant challenge. With the magnitude of the game, Amorim may be expected to name his strongest XI, but it seems this may not be the case.
Instead, the Portuguese will name a rotational side, making six changes from the weekend’s win, as Gazzetta dello Sport reported, as seen below.
Mike Maignan, Koni De Winter and Strahinja Pavlovic remain untouched in the core of the defence. However, Fikayo Tomori will start on the right of the back four, with Pervis Estupinan starting on the right.
Yunus Musah survives in midfield, but he’ll be joined by Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ardon Jashari. Omari Hutchinson and Diego Moreira will start on the flanks alongside Alphadjo Cisse, who’ll operate as a false nine, of sorts.
It’s a chance for several players; they must take it.
Predicted Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Pavlovic, Estupinan; Jashari, Musah, Loftus-Cheek; Hutchinson, Cisse; Moreira.
