That puts the spotlight firmly on two players who cost Arsenal a combined £120million, and now have the chance to show they’re worth it. Thankfully, Arsenal’s captain believes they’re in the right frame of mind to do just that.

In his captain’s notes for Arsenal.com ahead of today’s game against Everton, Martin Odegaard singled out Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke for praise.
“I thought both Ebs and Noni in particular did really well, both showing their level,” he wrote. “It’s really important for forward players especially to get goals and assists to help with their own momentum, and you can see that both of them are playing with confidence right now.”
Odegaard set up Eze’s opener in Munich, and he was clearly pleased with how the pair combined. “I’d seen that Ebs had made the run and that there was space in behind their defence,” he added. “I was able to find him with that pass, and then his finish was quality.”
Eze has now scored twice in his last three games, and his goal in Munich was the earliest by an Arsenal substitute in a Champions League match since Thierry Henry. Madueke scored the winner at Nottingham Forest last weekend, taking his remarkable away record to 13 of his 17 Premier League goals scored on the road, and he looked sharp after switching to the right in Munich.
Both are now set to start against an Everton side who have lost just one of their opening seven Premier League games. With Saka out until December, Arsenal need that confidence to carry on.
