Warrington Wolves release 2027 squad numbers with changes aplenty and youngsters rewarded

Warrington Wolves have become the first club to release their squad numbers ahead of the 2027 season, and there are a total of nine changes to the starting 17.

Just like last season, Wire are the first team in the top tier to confirm their numbers, with the club getting help from popular social media star ‘Big John’ to announce them.

This year is a much more simple graphic, but it makes for equally interesting reading with changes aplenty.

After an impressive season covering the full-back role, Josh Thewlis takes the number one shirt, with Cai Taylor-Wray dropping down to squad number 14.

Albert Hopoate moves from four to two after excelling on the wing; Arron Lindop takes the three spot from the departed Toby King.

New signings Jacob Gagai (four) and Brodie Croft (six) have received starting jerseys, whilst Toby Crosby (18) and Mitchell Prest (20) will provide plenty of strength in depth.

Ewan Irwin rightfully claims the number seven shirt after Marc Sneyd departed, whilst the only other change to the starting 13 sees Kelepi Tanginoa don the 11 shirt in place of Adam Holroyd, who drops to 21.

Luke Thomas is promoted to 17 in place of Jordy Crowther, who has joined Huddersfield, whilst young prop Charlie McKler takes Max Wood’s 25 jersey after his loan move to Hull FC.
