Barry Town United members voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new ownership structure for the club at an Extraordinary General Meeting in October.
The proposals will see Barry Town United transition to a new ownership structure under current chairman Mark Barrett and his family, providing a platform for continued development, long-term growth and investment in the football club.
Mr Barrett has been extensively involved with Barry Town United for the past 13 years, during which time he has committed significant personal time, energy and financial support to the club.
The new structure will better reflect the off-field reality in which Mark’s business, RIM Motors, is the club’s main sponsor.
The decision by members follows discussions over recent months and represents a significant step in shaping the future direction of Barry Town United.
The club will continue its commitment to its 950 registered players, youth development and community initiatives, building on the work already taking place across Barry.
The women’s section currently operates independently, and the club will now begin formal discussions to explore how all sections of Barry Town United can operate under a unified model.
The new ownership structure provides a foundation for responsible investment and creates opportunities for the club to strengthen its football operations, commercial activity, facilities and wider community work.
The ambition is to continue building a sustainable football club capable of developing and growing over the long term, while remaining closely connected to the people and community it represents.
Speaking after the EGM, Mr Barrett said: “This is about creating a sustainable foundation for Barry Town United to grow, while protecting the identity, history and community values that make this club so important to so many people.
“There is a lot of work still to do, but we are excited about what the future can bring.
“Our ambition is clear: to build a stronger, sustainable Barry Town United that our town, our supporters and future generations can be proud of.”
