‘Outstanding’ Wilson back in Wales’ Nations League squad
‘Outstanding’ Wilson back in Wales’ Nations League squad

Craig Bellamy is thrilled to have the "outstanding" Harry Wilson back in the fold after announcing his Wales squad for their upcoming Nations League matches.

Wales face Norway and Portugal in their final Group A4 fixtures, having taken just three points from their opening three matches during the last international break.

And they have been boosted by the return of Wilson, who has not played for his country since March after withdrawing from the squad with a quadricep injury in September.

The 29-year-old, who joined Leeds United from Fulham in the summer, has managed just one assist in nine appearances for his team in all competitions so far this season.

Wilson's Leeds team-mate Joe Rodon also returns to the fold despite not playing since August after sustaining a hamstring injury while playing for Daniel Farke's side.

"We've clearly seen in my time here the influence Harry's had," said Wales head coach Bellamy. "He's had a big influence on the team. He's been outstanding for us.

"Joe's been immense, so it's great having him. Players have to come through [for their clubs] this week, so, fingers crossed, when we report on Sunday, we have these players available because they're really important to us."

Bellamy has also recalled Manchester United goalkeeper Karl Darlow, while there is a first senior call-up for Joe Duncan, who is currently out on loan with Southend United in the National League from Championship side Bristol City.

Cardiff City's Rubin Colwill earns his first call-up since last November, while Kai Andrews, who is on loan at Oxford United from Coventry City, returns for the first time since June.

Wales are looking to preserve their spot in the top tier of the Nations League, with a top-two finish enough to secure progression to the quarter-finals of the competition.

But Bellamy's side are three points behind Denmark and level with Norway in fourth, putting them at risk of a relegation play-off or demotion from League A.

They face Norway at Ullevaal Stadion on November 14 before welcoming Portugal to the Cardiff City Stadium three days later.

Wales squad in full:

Karl Darlow (Manchester United), Danny Ward (Wrexham), Joe Duncan (Southend United – on loan from Bristol City); Connor Roberts (Burnley), Ben Davies (Tottenham), Chris Mepham (West Brom), Joe Rodon (Leeds United), Ben Cabango (Swansea City), Neco Williams (Nottingham Forest), Jay Dasilva (Coventry City), Jayden Lienou (Leeds United); Ethan Ampadu (Leeds United), Josh Sheehan (Bolton Wanderers), Kai Andrews (Oxford United – on loan from Coventry City), Rubin Colwill (Cardiff City), Joel Colwill (Cardiff City), Harry Wilson (Leeds United), Liam Cullen (Leicester City), David Brooks (Bournemouth); Brennan Johnson (Everton), Sorba Thomas (Hull City), Lewis Koumas (Liverpool), Kieffer Moore (Wrexham), Mark Harris (Oxford United), Dan James (Leeds United), Cian Ashford (Cardiff City).
