Who Is Remy Mitchell? 4 Things To Know As Arsenal Under 21 Star Trains With The First Team

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta called up four members of the Under-21 squad to train with the first team this week.

James Scanlon, Ife Ibrahim and Jaden Dixon were joined by Remy Mitchell as manager Mikel Arteta ran the rule over some youngsters.

The 22-year-old has had a rather odd career trajectory, to say the least, and it is actually quite surprising to see him with the senior side.

Press the next page as we list four interesting facts about the goalkeeper…

1) Mitchell has been released by Arsenal once already

Emirates Stadium

The keeper was born in London and joined the Hale End Academy’s Under 9s.

Mitchell remained with the Gunners until 2020, when he was given a two-year scholarship by the club.

However, he didn’t do enough to earn himself a professional deal, and he left to join Swansea’s Under 21s in the summer of 2022.

2) He has had a spell in non-league football

Emirates Stadium

Mitchell was unable to break through into Swansea’s first team, and after two years with the Welsh club, he became a free agent.

The youngster’s future in the game was uncertain, and he joined non-league outfit Haringey in October 2024.

Mitchell initially had a month out on loan at Aylesbury United before he returned to Haringey, where he spent the second half of the 2024/25 season.

3) Mitchell returned to Arsenal last year

Emirates Stadium

Three years after being released by the Gunners, the Premier League club decided to re-sign him for their academy.

They had clearly seen enough at Haringey to determine that Mitchell deserved another chance at the highest level.

The shot-stopper played 4 times for the Under-21s during the 2025/26 campaign, as well as spending some time with the senior setup as a training keeper.

4) He is competing with 3 other keepers

Emirates Stadium

It looks like Mitchell is continuing as the club’s training keeper, with Tommy Setford having been sent out on loan to Stevenage.

He hasn’t featured for the Under-21s so far this campaign, with head coach David Horseman also having the likes of Jack Porter, Lucas Nygaard and Khari Ranson to choose from.

It means Mitchell’s long-term future at the club remains uncertain, but he is certainly gaining a lot of experience whilst training with the first-team setup.
