Eintracht Frankfurt defender Lilian Brassier (27) has decided to switch his national team allegiance. Having played for France’s Under-18, Under-19 (one cap) and Under-20 (five caps) teams, the Argenteuil-born player – from the Paris suburbs – will now represent Togo at international level.

Included in the preliminary squad announced by Patrice Neveu for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Algeria on 14th and 17th November, Brassier will notably be joining forces with Getafe legend Dakonam Djene (34), alongside whom he could feature in the Sparrowhawks’ central defence. Coming third in Qualifying Group I, Togo have not taken part in the continental tournament since 2017.

A former Ligue 1 player, where he made 117 appearances (scoring six goals and providing three assists) for Stade Rennais, Stade Brestois and Olympique de Marseille, Brassier joined the Bundesliga last summer and has quickly established himself as a key member of Adi Hütter’s squad – starting in all seven of his appearances.
