Nebraska football quarterback Anthony Colandrea will return for the 2027 season. The QB signed a deal to stay at Nebraska next season despite interest from multiple SEC schools.

Colandrea is in the middle of a season in which the Huskers are 5-2. He has been a major part of their offense and their success so far this year. The dual-threat signal-caller has thrown for 1,570 yards, 14 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He has also been a weapon on the ground, carrying the ball 68 times for 334 yards and four touchdowns.

The quarterback is part of an offense that ranks 37th nationally in total offense. The team averages 430 yards per game and 35.6 points per game. They also average 194.4 yards per game on the ground, and the quarterback is a major part of that.

This is certainly a big signing heading into the 2027 campaign. Highly touted quarterback recruit Trae Taylor will join the program next fall. Having Colandrea return as starter will allow Taylor to develop properly. Starting a freshman quarterback is always risky. This move gives the Huskers and Taylor time to develop and prepare for the future.

Overall, this was a major move for the program and provides some stability for the quarterback room. Find social media reactions to the announcement below.
