Since the 2024-25 season, the Europa League has used a 36-team league format. The traditional four-team group stage no longer exists.
Each club plays eight matches against eight different opponents: four at home and four away.
At the end of this stage, the top teams advance directly to the round of 16.
Teams in the middle of the group play a playoff round to reach the round of 16.
The bottom-ranked teams are eliminated.
From the round of 16 onwards, the competition is played over two legs until the final, which is a single match at a pre-selected venue.

The competition began in the 1971-72 season as the UEFA Cup. In 2009, it was officially renamed the UEFA Europa League following a restructuring of the tournament.
For decades, it became one of the most important European competitions, allowing clubs not participating in the Champions League to compete against teams from different countries.

The Poznań Stadium, also known as Stadion Poznań and formerly as INEA Stadion, is a football stadium located in the city of Poznań, in western Poland. It is the home of Lech Poznań, one of the most renowned clubs in Polish football, which plays its home matches there. The stadium was originally opened in 1980 and underwent a major renovation between 2003 and 2010 to modernize its facilities and bring them up to international football standards. It currently has a capacity of approximately 42,800 spectators, making it one of the largest stadiums in the country.
The stadium gained significant international recognition as one of the venues for UEFA Euro 2012, a tournament co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine. During that competition, it hosted several group stage matches and welcomed fans from across Europe. Its structure is characterized by four covered stands surrounding the pitch, offering excellent visibility from various sections and creating an intense atmosphere during matches. Lech Poznań fans are also known for their collective celebrations, especially the popular "Poznań," a choreographed dance in which supporters turn their backs to the field, link arms, and jump to the rhythm of the chants.
In addition to Lech Poznań's league matches and European competitions, the stadium has hosted international matches and entertainment events. Its importance to the city extends beyond sport, as it represents a meeting point for fans and a symbol of local football tradition. Thanks to its history, its capacity, and the atmosphere generated by its supporters, Poznań Stadium is one of the most prominent venues in Polish football.
