Manchester United tipped to overcome Bournemouth and claim first win in six games

Manchester United will host Bournemouth in the eighth round of the English Premier League on Sunday, 25 October, with both sides looking to improve difficult starts to the season. The home side are being backed to win 3-1 and end a six-match run without victory.

Manchester United

Manchester United have collected only seven points from their opening seven league matches and sit 13th in the table. Their record consists of one win, four draws and two defeats, with the victory coming against Ipswich.

The result leaves Michael Carrick’s side only two points clear of the relegation zone. United have also been unable to win in their past six matches, adding to the pressure ahead of Bournemouth’s visit.

Despite their poor form, bookmakers regard Manchester United as the favourites for the fixture.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth occupy 15th place, just below Manchester United, with six points from seven games. Marco Rose’s side have recorded one win and three draws, while losing their other three matches.

The visitors have scored nine goals so far, the fourth-lowest tally in the league, and have conceded 13, which is the sixth-worst defensive record in the division.

Bournemouth arrive at Old Trafford with two successive victories after suffering two previous setbacks. However, they also have a difficult match against Milan, a factor expected to influence their preparation for the Premier League contest.

Both clubs are involved in European competitions. Manchester United have one additional day to recover before Sunday’s match, which is viewed as a potential advantage for the hosts.

Head-to-head record

Manchester United and Bournemouth have met 28 times. United have won 16 of those fixtures, while Bournemouth have recorded five victories. The remaining seven matches ended in draws.

The historical record therefore strongly favours the home team, although Manchester United’s current league position gives the visitors an opportunity to challenge expectations.

Prediction

The extra recovery time could prove important for Manchester United, particularly with Bournemouth facing Milan in a demanding European fixture.

With home advantage and the greater recovery period, United are predicted to secure their second league win of the season. The forecast is Manchester United 3-1 Bournemouth.
