Former Black Stars captain André Ayew has donated an undisclosed amount of money to the national amputee football team, the Black Challenge, and offered words of encouragement ahead of the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.
Ayew visited the team during training to express his support as the players intensify preparations for the tournament, scheduled for November 13 to 22 in San Juan de los Lagos.
“I’m here to support and give you all the love and power that I can give you, and to wish you great luck. I hope that you guys will bring us a medal, but the gold will be better,” Ayew told the players.
The former Black Stars captain’s gesture is expected to boost the team’s morale as they prepare to represent Ghana at the global competition.
Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Angola, Colombia and Iraq, with 24 national teams expected to compete for the title.
The Black Challenge will be seeking to build on their preparations with strong performances against their group opponents as they pursue the world title.
Ayew’s financial support and words of encouragement provide an additional boost to the team as they aim to make Ghana proud and return home with a medal.
