Today’s Orlando Pirates news wrap looks at Tshepang Moremi’s form, Mbokazi’s next xlub options and three Bucs wonderkids.

Is Orlando Pirates darling Mbokazi headed for England or Italy?

In today’s financial climate, elite European clubs can part ways with €20m (R369 million) and not consider it much of a risk. In fact, it could turn out to be an incredibly shrewd investment with massive upside. 21-year-old Mbekezeli Mbokazi could easily start to outgrow his surroundings in the United States MLS. What are his next stepping stones if he leaves Chicago Fire?

Moremi is a trusted soldier

Against African Stars in the first leg of the CAF Champions League qualifier, Tshepang Moremi made his 50th Pirates appearance under Abdeslam Ouaddou, only the fourth player to achieve the feat after Oswin Appollis, Sipho Chaine and Lebone Seema. He also started the second leg, Pirates won that comfortably to cruise through the tie 5-0 on aggregate.

New talents sprouting at Pirates

Pirates have three young talents all sharing the nickname ‘Messi’ after arguably the greatest footballer ever to play the game. They must be quite good then? The real Messi recently called time on his fabled international career, one in which he won the World Cup, two Copa América titles, four Champions League crowns and eight Ballon d’Or gongs. The great Argentine scored 672 goals and supplied 303 assists in 778 outings for Barcelona between 2005 and 2021. For Argentina, he scored 126 goals in 208 appearances. Will there ever be another player like him?
