Tottenham Hotspur are one of several Premier League clubs eyeing a move for a highly-rated Bundesliga midfielder.

Spurs made significant reinforcements to their midfield in the summer, spending a combined £185m to bring Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes through the door.

While Fernandes is yet to get regular game time in his preferred central midfield role, Tonali has been coming into his own over recent weeks after a middling start to the season.

However, rumours linking Lucas Bergvall with a move away from Spurs persist, with the Swede’s new contract thought to have a release clause.

That may be why Roberto De Zerbi’s men are now keeping a close eye on the situation of a 26-year-old German international.

Tottenham battling Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United for Felix Nmecha

According to TEAMtalk, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha is on the radar of Tottenham as well as several of their Premier League rivals.

The report claims that Spurs are admirers of the Bundesliga star and have monitored him closely, as have their London rivals, Chelsea.

Additionally, Man United and Liverpool are also considering offers for the German star, as they eye reinforcements to the middle of the park. The report adds that Newcastle United, Manchester City and Arsenal have also watched the Dortmund man over the last year.

The 25-year-old spent 10 years at the City academy before establishing himself in the Bundesliga, and his background in English football is thought to be part of his appeal to Premier League clubs.

Nmecha is seen by these clubs as a versatile, energetic central midfielder capable of contributing in both boxes, but a deal will be difficult to do in January.

Nmecha’s release clause becomes active next summer

The midfielder only signed a new contract with Dortmund earlier this year, which runs until 2030, and he remains a key part of the side under head coach Niko Kovac.

A €80m (£67.4m) release clause in the midfielder’s contract becomes active at the end of the season, but that clause is not applicable for the January window.

The website claims that interested clubs would have to pay up to €90-€100m (£75.5m-£84.2m) to get him out of Dortmund in the winter.

As things stand, the German club are not worried about losing the midfielder mid-season and expect the 26-year-old to remain at the Signal Iduna Park until next summer
