Gzim Selmani doubts that his former WWE opponent would accept his offer.
In March, Selmani won his BKFC debut and impressed Conor McGregor by overcoming a knockdown to get the finish in the second round.
He made the decision to return to his combat sports background after being released from his WWE contract, where he wrestled as ‘Rezar’, in 2025.
Now, the former Raw and NXT tag team champion is hoping to cross paths with another man that has experience inside the ring and the cage.
Before you answer, take a look at Ste Wallwork's face after four minutes of fighting at BKFC 94. 🤮
Last year, Bobby Lashley teased signing with BKFC by saying when attending a live event that he may still have “one left in the tank”.
The former multiple-time WWE champion had his final WrestleMania match in 2024 when his group, ‘The Pride’ defeated ‘The Final Testament’, which included Gzim Selmani, or ‘Rezar’.
Selmani, one half of the ‘Authors of Pain’ tag team, is set to make his highly-anticipated BKFC return in Glasgow, Scotland on November 7.
In a recent interview with Bloody Elbow, he initially struggled to pick out a name when asked which WWE wrestler would make the best bare-knuckle boxer.
“Maybe Bobby Lashley,” he replied. That’s someone who I would really want to fight as well in bare-knuckle. I think it would make a great fight. A lot of people would want to see it but he’s at an age right now that I think he’s just taking his opportunities.”
Lashley said back in 2020 that he had interest in competing for BKFC and despite his age, has thrown the idea out of competing in combat sports again several times in recent years.
Despite this, Selmani doubts that his former WWE rival would accept an offer if it landed on his table, though he’d be happy to be proven wrong.
“I think they mentioned my name but he knows me very well and he knows what I’m capable of. We shared a card in Bellator as well in 2015. He knows my power, man, so I don’t think he’d accept the fight. He’s smarter than that. But hey, if he has the b—- to come over, I’m very happy to welcome him in the ring.”
Gzim Selmani and Bobby Lashley are two men who are best known for their professional wrestling careers despite also being professional fighters.
Selmani cut his MMA run short in 2014 at 4-2 despite previously receiving interest from the UFC due to being offered a WWE trial.
Lashley, on the other hand, fought 17 times between 2008 and 2016, with the most recent five fights of his MMA career coming in Bellator, where he won every bout via finish.
As Selmani said, they both competed on the same Bellator card (130) in 2014, where he suffered a TKO loss on the prelims before Lashley stopped his opponent in the co-main event.
Despite this very different stage that they were at in their careers at that point, a now 50-year-old Lashley wanting to face a heavyweight who is 18 years younger than him in his bare-knuckle debut seems unlikely.
