THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has sanctioned Power Dynamos and Nkana Football Club for breaching its constitution which prohibits political slogans at match venues.

In separate rulings released by the FAZ Disciplinary Committee on Saturday, both clubs were fined K100,000.

Power Dynamos

The charge relates to the MTN Super League Week 2 game between Power Dynamos and Nchanga Rangers FC at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe on 11th October 2026, where a considerable section of Power’s supporters repeatedly chanted political slogans.

The club was asked to show cause on 12th October. In its response, Power condemned the chants, acknowledged responsibility for supporter behaviour and described it as an isolated incident.

The committee imposed a K100,000 fine and a three-match ban from playing at Arthur Davies Stadium, which is suspended.

Nkana

Nkana were charged over an incident during their Week 2 fixture against Makeni All Stars FC at Nkana Stadium on 10th October 2026, where supporters were observed chanting political slogans.

The FAZ said the conduct was inconsistent with sportsmanship and neutrality and risked turning football venues into centres of political confrontation.

Nkana, in a response dated 12th October, expressed regret and outlined remedial measures.

The club was fined K100,000 payable within 72 hours and ordered to play its next five home matches at a neutral venue at least 300km from Nkana Stadium, behind closed doors. The stadium ban is partially suspended and will only take effect if Nkana re-offends.

FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya thanked the Disciplinary Committee for acting swiftly.

“Football is a huge source of joy for the majority of our people and cannot be turned into a political battleground. It is our prayer that stadia will continue to be a safe haven for our people,” he said.

Both clubs have 72 hours to appeal.
