Livorno secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Ostiamare at the Stadio Armando Picchi during Sunday’s Serie C Girone B fixture, breaking a winless streak that had stretched for over a month. LivornoToday reported that the decisive moment arrived in the 83rd minute when forward Tommaso Gabbiani executed a spectacular scissor kick from the penalty spot following a soft cross from Michele Malotti.
The 1–0 triumph lifts the Tuscan side following recent disappointments, including a league defeat against Sambenedettese and a Coppa Italia elimination against Spezia. Despite managing several absences—including Di Carmine and Regazzetti—manager Cristiano Lucarelli’s side dominated the second-half chances after a scoreless opening period. Vertua, the Ostiamare goalkeeper, made multiple saves to keep the visitors in the contest before Gabbiani broke the deadlock with a leaping volley that found the back of the net.

The match began with cautious play from both sides before Livorno began to assert pressure. Midfielder Bacciardi came closest for the hosts in the 28th minute, striking the crossbar with a long-range effort from 30 meters out. Ostiamare responded when Tonin took a right-footed shot from a central position that was well saved by Livorno goalkeeper Martinez.
After a slow start to the second period, Livorno continued to press the Ostiamare defense. Bacciardi threatened early in the half with a 25-meter right-footed shot gathered by Vertua, followed by a 49th-minute sequence where Malotti swept a free-kick wide to Mawete. Rizza drove down the left flank before sending a wayward 30-meter effort off target and later overhitting a pass behind Peralta. Malagrida carved through the left side in the 56th minute to force a deflected cross and subsequently went down in the penalty area following a challenge, though referee Vailati waved play on. Bacciardi then sent a close-range left-footed strike from the penalty spot straight into Vertua’s arms in the 59th minute before missing just wide of the top corner moments later. Gabbiani struck the crossbar again in the 61st minute following a deflection from Vertua off a powerful right-footed blast from the left edge of the small box. A video review check was subsequently triggered by Ostiamare in the 63rd minute following a collision between Veseli and Papawade, but the referee ruled that play could continue. Carboni then capitalized on a turnover by Bacciardi in the 65th minute, firing a right-footed shot from the 16-meter mark that missed wide by a meter. Haas stepped in defensively to block a long-range right-footed attempt from Badje before Livorno introduced Morachioli and Di Carmine in the 69th minute for Malagrida and Peralta, the latter returning after an absence exceeding one month. Malotti tested Vertua with a dangerous left-footed curling effort that the goalkeeper tipped out for a corner in the 70th minute, shortly before Bacciardi sent a speculative right-footed shot wide from a left-wing set-piece delivered by Malotti. Ostiamare earned their first corner of the match in the 73rd minute, prompting Martinez to leap and palm away a header from Piroli, which yielded another corner. Ostiamare manager D’Antoni made a double substitution in the 75th minute, bringing on Tosku and Parigini to replace Papawade and Tonin. After Ostiamare forced a third corner following sustained pressure that left Livorno visibly fatigued, Haas received a yellow card in the 78th minute for a deliberate foul. Ostiamare squandered a persistent attacking sequence through Tosku in the 81st minute before Parigini swung in a corner kick from the flag that the Livorno defense cleared with difficulty ahead of the winning goal. Following substitutions that saw the return of veteran striker Di Carmine after a month-long absence, the pressure finally mounted in the closing stages. Ostiamare introduced substitutes Tosku and Parigini in the 75th minute to search for an equalizer, but Livorno’s defense held firm through six minutes of added time to secure the three points.
US Livorno lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation featuring Martinez in goal; Mawete, Bachini, Veseli, and Rizza across the defensive line; Arrigoni and Haas in midfield; with Malotti, Peralta, and Malagrida supporting Gabbiani up front. Ostiamare deployed a 4-4-2 setup with Vertua starting in goal; Piroli, Brosco, Cotali, and Tesauro in defense; Spinosa, Casolari, Badje, and Carbone in midfield; and Papa Wade alongside Tonin leading the attack under manager D’Antoni.
Next up, Livorno prepares for their upcoming Serie C fixture as they look to maintain momentum in the league standings.
