Kaizer Chiefs vice-captain Inácio Miguel is suspended for Sunday’s clash. Coach Fernando Da Cruz will reshuffle his central defensive partnership as Amakhosi hunt a Carling Knockout semi-final place.

The 30-year-old Angolan defender’s disciplinary record continues to draw scrutiny. He has already faced several bookings and a red card this season.

INÁCIO MIGUEL SUSPENDED FOR KAIZER CHIEFS’ MATCH AGAINST SIWELELE

Following his booking in the Soweto Derby, Miguel will sit out the Carling Knockout quarter-final at home to Siwelele FC on Sunday, which kicks off at 18:00 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.

A red card and a growing collection of cautions have made discipline a talking point surrounding Miguel.

Since joining Amakhosi in August 2024, Miguel has made 28 appearances and played 2,520 minutes during his standout 2024/25 debut season.

He also proved dangerous in the opposition’s penalty area, scoring three goals in his first three Nedbank Cup matches. His contribution helped Amakhosi secure a memorable 2-1 victory over Orlando Pirates in the final.

Miguel has already received three yellow cards and one red card across his first nine appearances of the current campaign.

His aggressive approach has previously attracted criticism, although his coach has defended his commitment and intensity.

RUSHWIN DORTLEY EXPECTED TO PARTNER THABO MOLOISANE

With Miguel unavailable, Rushwin Dortley, returning from a long injury layoff, is expected to get the opportunity to partner Thabo Moloisane in central defence.

On the opposite side, Siwelele’s Aphiwe Baliti is also out suspended for the encounter.

INACIO MIGUEL’S EXPERIENCE HE BRINGS TO KAIZER CHIEFS

Before joining Amakhosi, Miguel accumulated 157 career appearances and scored eight goals across 10 seasons.

His journey included spells at Braga B in Portugal (33 appearances), Universitatea Cluj in Romania (28), FK Liepāja in Latvia (15) and Petro de Luanda in Angola (25 league appearances and four goals).

He helped Petro secure a domestic double, including the Girabola title, and has also earned six senior caps for Angola.
