A Clásico with many new faces
A Clásico with many new faces

On 25 October, FC Barcelona are set to host their old rivals Real Madrid to fulfil the LaLiga matchday 10 fixture (kick-off 9.00pm CET). It's a match that blaugrana fans always look for when the fixture list is released. As it stands there may be many new faces on both sides, as both teams refreshed their squads for the 2026/27 season.

Five new blaugranes

When it comes to Barça, up to six first team players could be getting a taste of their first match against the all-whites. There are the five new signings in Dominik Livaković, Rodri, Gabriel Jesus, Karim Adeyemi and Anthony Gordon; plus Brian Fariñas who was made a first team squad member this summer.

There is also Xavi Espart to consider, because although the La Masia player was in the squad for the last Clásico, the LaLiga matchday 35 fixture last season, he didn't get on the pitch. As such, he may make his debut against the Madrilenians.

Line up changes

Looking back to the most recent Barça v Real Madrid, at the Spotify Camp Nou, Hansi Flick will have to make at least four changes to the starting 11 that day. Two will be for Rashford and Ferran Torres, who are no longer FC Barcelona players; while Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo will miss out due to injury.

Changes to Real Madrid squad

Real Madrid have six new signings coming into the match, namely Yan Diomande, Marc Cucurella, Carlos Espí, Dumfries, Konaté and Bernardo Silva. There is also a new face on the bench, yet an old acquaintance in José Mourinho. The Portuguese coach began his second spell with the all-whites this summer, after first being at the club from 2010/11 to 2012/13.

The Madrilenians will also have to make at least three changes to the starting lineup from the most recent Clásico last season. Both Fran García and Gonzalo García have left the club, while Vinícius Júnior is suspended for the game after his red card against Villarreal. In fact, based on the recent lineups selected by Mourinho, there could be up to seven changes. However, we will have to wait until not long before the first Clásico of this season to find out.
