Man Utd's incredible XI if they made Paul Scholes' dream five transfers

Paul Scholes has revealed the five dream players he'd love to see Manchester United sign.

Manchester United might have returned to winning ways in the Champions League in midweek, but there is still a lot of work for the Red Devils to do. Already out of the Carabao Cup and with very little hope of lifting a trophy in the Premier League and Champions League, United's season is at serious risk of petering out.

Then there is the situation surrounding the manager. Michael Carrick was given a stay of execution following a dismal start to the campaign, with suggestions that INEOS could still pull the trigger in the near future. In short, there is plenty United need to figure out in the coming weeks.

However, Red Devils legend Paul Scholes believes he knows one way United can return to the top, having picked out five players he dreams of his old club signing. Here, Express Sport details what United's starting XI might look like if Scholes got his wish...

GK - Senne Lammens
Starting between the sticks, Senne Lammens has been one of United's stronger signings in recent windows. The Belgian is a safe pair of hands and has established himself as the club's No.1 goalkeeper. United won't be replacing him any time soon. (Image: Getty)
RB - Diogo Dalot
In an ideal world, maybe United make a signing in this department as well. However, with Diogo Dalot still boasting one year left on his contract, he may still be the starter next season at right-back. (Image: Getty)
CB - GABRIEL
The first of Scholes' dream United signings, and it's a big one! Gabriel is considered one of the best defenders in Europe and has transformed Arsenal's backline. The chances of the Brazilian actually swapping Arsenal for United are incredibly slim but he'd be an amazing signing for the Red Devils. (Image: Getty)
CB - Leny Yoro
Partnering the Brazilian at the back would be Leny Yoro, who hasn't had the best of seasons so far but has largely been played out of position. He is very much still a promising young talent. At 20 years old, Yoro still has his best years ahead of him.  (Image: Getty)
