Osimhen Set for Knee Operation, Misses Nigeria’s Tanzania Qualifiers

Galatasaray have confirmed that Victor Osimhen is scheduled to have knee surgery on Saturday, a development set to sideline him for Nigeria’s crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Tanzania later this month.

Quick facts

  • Osimhen will undergo an operation on his left knee on Saturday.
  • The injury occurred during Galatasaray’s home UEFA Champions League match against Stuttgart.
  • Nigeria face Tanzania in Uyo on Friday, November 13, before the return fixture in Tanzania on Tuesday, November 17, 2026.
  • Galatasaray lead second-placed Amedspor by two points after 10 Super Lig rounds.

The Super Eagles are due to welcome Tanzania at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, November 13. The reverse match is scheduled for Amman Stadium in Tanzania on Tuesday, November 17, 2026.

Galatasaray said the Nigerian forward sustained a left-knee strain during their Champions League fixture against Stuttgart in Istanbul.

As a result, Osimhen has been omitted from the squad for Saturday’s Turkish Super Lig meeting with nearby title rivals Amedspor.

The Istanbul club sit top of the Super Lig table, holding a two-point advantage over Amedspor after 10 matches.
