Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha is making headlines after surpassing Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal in the Champions League’s successful dribbling statistics this season.
The 18-year-old winger has completed 22 dribbles during the 2026/27 campaign, six more than Yamal, who currently sits second with 16.
AEK Athens forward Aboubakary Koita and Shakhtar Donetsk youngster Alisson Santana follow with 15 successful dribbles, while Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise occupies fifth place.
Ngumoha’s achievement becomes even more impressive considering he has recorded those numbers in just 285 minutes of European football.
Although Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has mainly introduced Ngumoha from the bench in the Premier League, the teenager has regularly started European matches.
Daily star says he impressed despite Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat against Fenerbahçe, completing seven successful take-ons before being substituted after 66 minutes.
That performance followed his outstanding display against Villarreal, where he registered two assists and completed nine dribbles in a thrilling 4-3 victory at Anfield.
He also recorded seven successful take-ons against LASK earlier in the competition.
Former Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has praised the youngster, predicting an “amazing future” for him at the highest level.
However, his development has attracted Bayern Munich, who are reportedly preparing to revisit their interest after previously considering a €70m (£59m) offer.
The German champions reportedly held discussions with his representatives before abandoning their pursuit last summer.
Bayern have maintained contact with Ngumoha’s camp, while Liverpool sporting director Julian Ward is prioritising a lucrative long-term contract to secure the winger’s future.
