Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz has expressed confidence in his team's playing philosophy following their 3-0 victory over TS Galaxy in the Carling Knockout Cup on Tuesday night.

The victory provided Amakhosi with a positive result as they prepare for the highly anticipated Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates. Chiefs will be hoping to maintain their momentum and deliver another strong performance when the two rivals meet.

Da Cruz said the team had developed confidence in its game model, indicating that the players were increasingly comfortable with the tactical approach he wanted them to follow. The coach believes that maintaining this understanding will be important as the team continues to work towards its objectives this season.

Chiefs produced an impressive second-half performance against TS Galaxy, with Wandile Duba scoring three goals to secure the victory. The forward found the net in the 48th, 62nd and 66th minutes, completing a hat-trick that helped his team progress in the competition.

The result was an encouraging response for Chiefs following their recent disappointment in the CAF Confederation Cup. Their elimination from the continental competition had increased the pressure on the team to produce a positive performance in domestic football.

Da Cruz will now be looking for his players to build on the victory while maintaining discipline and consistency. Although the result against TS Galaxy demonstrated their attacking potential, the upcoming derby will present a different challenge against a familiar opponent.

The Soweto Derby remains one of the biggest fixtures in South African football, with both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates seeking victory over their rivals.

Chiefs will aim to carry their confidence into the encounter, while Da Cruz will expect his players to execute the team's game model effectively throughout the match.

The coach's comments underline his belief in the approach as Amakhosi prepare for an important test against Pirates.
