Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has expressed confidence in his team's preparations ahead of their CAF Champions League encounter against Namibian side African Stars, insisting that his players are mentally prepared and capable of handling the pressure associated with continental football.

The Buccaneers are determined to make a strong impression in Africa's premier club competition as they look to build on their domestic performances and pursue success beyond South Africa's borders. With expectations high among supporters, Ouaddou believes his squad understands the responsibility that comes with representing one of the continent's most recognised football clubs.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, the Pirates coach highlighted the importance of remaining calm, focused and disciplined throughout the match. He believes his players are aware of what is required and are ready to embrace the challenge as they seek a positive result.

"Pirates is a giant of Africa," Ouaddou said, emphasising the club's reputation and the significance of competing on the continental stage.

His remarks underline the ambition surrounding Orlando Pirates, a club with a rich history in South African football and previous experience competing against some of Africa's strongest teams. The CAF Champions League provides another opportunity for the Soweto giants to demonstrate their quality and pursue continental honours.

However, the Buccaneers will need to approach the contest with caution, as African Stars will also be eager to prove themselves against one of South Africa's biggest football clubs. The Namibian side will view the encounter as an opportunity to challenge their more highly regarded opponents and potentially produce a memorable result.

For Pirates, experience, tactical discipline and composure could prove decisive. Ouaddou will expect his players to execute their game plan effectively, maintain concentration and take advantage of scoring opportunities when they arise.

The support of the Buccaneers faithful could also provide additional motivation as the team seeks to deliver a performance worthy of its reputation.

With continental ambitions firmly in focus, Pirates will be hoping to turn their preparations into a convincing performance and take an important step towards achieving their CAF Champions League objectives.
