Mofokeng Reveals the Secret Behind His Impressive Header in Union SG's Comeback Victory

Bafana Bafana attacking midfielder Relebohile Mofokeng has attributed his goalscoring ability to determination and the right mentality after delivering an impressive performance in Royale Union Saint-Gilloise's 5-2 comeback victory over Cercle Brugge in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League on Sunday.

The former Orlando Pirates star played a crucial role as Union SG recovered from a two-goal deficit to secure all three points in front of their home supporters. Mofokeng scored a late header and provided an assist, further demonstrating his growing influence since moving to European football.

Union SG entered the encounter hoping to return to winning ways after being held to a 1-1 draw by Oud-Heverlee Leuven in their previous league fixture. However, they faced an early challenge against Cercle Brugge before producing an impressive comeback to turn the match around.

Mofokeng played the entire match and continued his promising run of form by finding the back of the net in the 80th minute. The South African international rose to meet the ball and directed a header past the goalkeeper, registering his fourth league goal of the season.

His contribution did not end there, as he provided an assist for Union SG's fifth goal deep into stoppage time to complete an outstanding individual display.

Following the match, Mofokeng was asked how he managed to score with his head despite being shorter than many of the defenders he faces on the pitch.

According to the Belgian Pro League, the talented midfielder explained that determination and mentality were the key factors behind his success.

"It's just on your mind, if the desire is there and the mentality is there, you'll always get the goal," Mofokeng explained.

The 21-year-old also expressed satisfaction with his performance but indicated that he wanted to improve further, particularly when competing for aerial balls against taller opponents.

His latest display will provide encouragement for both Union SG and Bafana Bafana, as Mofokeng continues developing his game and adapting to the demands of European football.
