Concerns regarding a long-serving Kaizer Chiefs star's capacity to justify the faith the club placed in him have led to questions about his future with the club.

Ever since being promoted to the senior team, Bruce Bvuma's performances have come under scrutiny. The custodian has been unable to reliably repay the trust that the Amakhosi hierarchy placed in him.

Over the course of his time with Naturena, Bvuma has seen the club's goalkeeping setup evolve through many iterations. Though he has come a long way, he still has great expectations from one of the most prominent football clubs in South Africa.

Finding a consistent custodian is vital for Chiefs as the club aims to contend for big titles and regain its reputation in domestic football.

Battles for roster spots further add stress to Bvuma's already heavy load. An important part of being a custodian for a club like Chiefs is being reliable, limiting mistakes that can cost you goals, and giving your teammates faith in you.

Bvuma may know what to expect from the club thanks to his time there, but familiarity is no guarantee of a spot on the squad. Factors that are still heavily weighted in the selection process include team performance and competitiveness.

The Chiefs may have to reevaluate their goalkeeping strategies in light of his current predicament, which begs the issue of whether he can become a reliable long-term option.

Just because a club isn't sure how a player is doing doesn't mean they've decided to let him go. The team has to weigh its alternatives and decide where it wants to go before making any moves on Bvuma's future.

The veteran custodian now has the task of living up to the expectations set for him by the Amakhosi jersey and delivering regular performances worthy of the trust bestowed upon him.

Given the high expectations at Naturena, Bvuma's future chances may have a significant impact on how the club views his job.
