He Is Back And Begging: Former Chiefs Superstar Returns From Asia To Plead For A Final PSL Lifeline

Former Kaizer Chiefs Winger William Twala Returns To South Africa As He Searches For New Club

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United winger William Twala is back in South Africa and looking for a new club as he considers the next chapter of his professional football career.

The experienced attacker, who is now 36 years old, is available for a new opportunity after spending time playing outside the country. His return could attract interest from South African clubs looking to strengthen their attacking departments with a player who understands the demands of professional football.

Twala is a familiar name among local football supporters, having represented several clubs in the Premier Soccer League, including Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, Chippa United, Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United and Free State Stars.

His career has taken him through some of the biggest football environments in the country. However, his time at Kaizer Chiefs remains particularly notable because of the expectations that come with representing one of South Africa's most supported clubs.

The winger also experienced life at Orlando Pirates before making his mark at other domestic teams. Having played for both Soweto giants, he understands the pressure, intensity and competitive standards associated with South African football.

Beyond the local game, Twala has also gained valuable international experience. His football journey took him to Iraq, India and Bangladesh, where he represented Erbil SC, Madan Maharaj and Chittagong Abahani.

Those overseas experiences exposed him to different football cultures and playing environments, adding another dimension to his professional career.

His return to South Africa therefore presents an opportunity to bring that experience back into the domestic game. For clubs searching for attacking depth, the availability of a player who has competed in different leagues could be worth considering.

Twala has previously demonstrated that he is open to different opportunities rather than limiting himself to one particular club or competition.

In an earlier interview with iDiski Times in 2023, the winger explained that he was willing to consider offers from both the top flight and the Motsepe Foundation Championship. He also expressed confidence in his ability to adapt to different playing styles.

At 36, however, any interested club will likely want to assess his current fitness, match readiness and ability to meet its tactical requirements before making a decision.

There is currently no confirmed agreement with a new club, meaning his next destination remains uncertain. Whether he secures an opportunity in the Betway Premiership or the Motsepe Foundation Championship remains to be seen.

For Twala, the priority will be finding the right environment where he can continue playing competitive football and contribute his experience.
