Durban-based Betway Premiership side Golden Arrows have parted ways with head coach Pitso Dladla and appointed Mandla Ncikazi as his replacement, welcoming the experienced coach back to the club.
The changes were announced on Thursday afternoon, following reports that Ncikazi had asked to leave Orlando Pirates to pursue an opportunity elsewhere. His return to Arrows had been widely anticipated amid growing speculation about a possible coaching change.
Golden Arrows' management were reportedly dissatisfied with the team's declining performances under Dladla, eventually deciding to end his tenure with immediate effect.
In a brief statement, the club confirmed the separation, saying both parties had agreed to part ways. Arrows also thanked Dladla for his commitment, dedication and efforts during his time at the club.
Shortly afterwards, the club announced Ncikazi's return, confirming that he would take charge as head coach for a second spell.
Arrows described Ncikazi as a familiar figure who understands the club's culture, traditions and expectations. The club also expressed confidence in the knowledge and experience he has gained throughout his coaching career.
The appointment marks a new chapter for Abafana Bes'thende, who will be hoping that Ncikazi's return can help improve the team's performances and restore momentum.
In welcoming the coach back, the club called on supporters to unite behind him as he begins his new assignment.
The message ended with a warm welcome to Ncikazi, using the words “Siyakwamukela ekhaya, Mqeqeshi,” which means “Welcome home, Coach.”
Arrows supporters will now be watching closely to see how Ncikazi's return influences the team's fortunes in the Betway Premiership.
