Pirates Coach Ouaddou Awaits Compensation Following CAS Ruling

Ouaddou’s R11.5 Million Payday as AS Vita Faces Pressure Over Unpaid Compensation

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is still awaiting payment from former club AS Vita following a significant legal victory in his long-running compensation dispute with the Congolese giants.

The dispute dates back to November 2024, when the Moroccan tactician formally challenged the termination of his contract with AS Vita, arguing that the club had failed to meet its contractual obligations. Nearly two years later, the matter remains unresolved despite a ruling in his favour.

In May 2026, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled that AS Vita had terminated Ouaddou’s contract without legitimate cause. The tribunal ordered the Congolese club to pay him €612,227.30, equivalent to approximately R11.5 million, covering outstanding salaries, bonuses, expenses and compensation for the termination.

The award includes €157,000 in unpaid salaries and contractual bonuses, €1,977.30 in travel expenses and €453,250 in compensation for the dismissal. The ruling represented a major victory for Ouaddou after months of pursuing the money he believed he was contractually entitled to receive.

However, winning the legal battle has not necessarily meant receiving the compensation.

According to reports published in July 2026, Ouaddou informed CAS that AS Vita had failed to implement the ruling. The situation prompted further pressure on the club to fulfil its financial obligations. CAS also ordered AS Vita to contribute towards the legal and arbitration costs, including an additional CHF3,000 in legal expenses.

The latest developments have raised questions about when the former coach will finally receive the money awarded to him.

Meanwhile, Ouaddou has continued focusing on his responsibilities at Orlando Pirates, where he is leading the Buccaneers through a demanding campaign in South African football.

With the two-year anniversary of his initial claim approaching, attention will remain on whether AS Vita complies with the ruling. For Ouaddou, the legal victory is already secured, but the outstanding compensation remains the crucial unresolved issue.
