Vincent Kompany Rushed to Hospital After Emergency Doctor Called to Bayern Munich Facility

Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany was reportedly rushed to a hospital in Munich on Friday, 23 October 2026, after an emergency doctor was called to the club’s Säbener Straße training facility.

According to German publication BILD, an air ambulance helicopter landed at the training ground before the Belgian manager was transported to hospital by ambulance. The incident raised concerns about the 40-year-old coach’s health after he had reportedly been battling a severe viral infection for more than a week.

Bayern Munich had not released an official statement regarding Kompany’s condition at the time of publication.

The reported emergency came after the coach continued working despite experiencing worsening symptoms, which had already disrupted his training schedule and media commitments.

Kompany opened up about his illness following Bayern Munich’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. He admitted that he had failed to give his body enough time to recover from the infection.

“I caught a pretty nasty virus last week, then of course I didn't listen to my body, and eventually my body said: Now stop!” Kompany told journalists.

The former Manchester City captain acknowledged the demands of his managerial role, explaining that he always wanted to remain involved in the team’s activities and take responsibility for matters at the club.

However, his illness had reportedly become serious enough to affect his ability to carry out everyday physical activities.

During Bayern Munich’s emphatic 6-1 victory over RB Leipzig, Kompany was reportedly forced to rest on a sofa in his office at half-time and after the match. The infection was also said to have aggravated old scar tissue, making activities such as climbing stairs painful and difficult.

His condition subsequently forced him to miss first-team training sessions earlier in the week, with assistant coach Aaron Danks stepping in to handle media duties.

Danks had already urged the Belgian manager to prioritise his recovery rather than rush back to work.

“The most important thing, which we are encouraging him to do right now, is to rest and take the time he needs – however long that may take,” Danks said on Tuesday.

Despite the advice, Kompany returned to the touchline for Bayern’s Champions League encounter against Arsenal at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

The reported medical emergency on Friday, just two days after the European fixture, raised further questions about the severity of his illness and whether he would be able to resume his managerial responsibilities soon.

Kompany’s health will be closely watched by Bayern Munich supporters as they await an official update from the German giants. For now, details about his condition and the length of any potential absence remain unclear.
