Spanish football was overshadowed by a frightening incident after Sabadell player Quadri Liameed was knocked unconscious following a collision with Albacete midfielder José Corpas.
The incident occurred shortly before half-time during the match between the two sides when Liameed attempted to head the ball while Corpas went for a volley.
Although Liameed managed to reach the ball first with his head, Corpas' swinging boot struck him in the head, causing the Sabadell player to collapse immediately onto the pitch.
The incident prompted an urgent medical response, with medical personnel rushing onto the field to attend to the injured footballer.
Due to the seriousness of the situation, an ambulance was brought onto the pitch to transport Liameed to hospital for further medical attention.
Meanwhile, Corpas was shown a straight red card by the referee for the dangerous challenge.
Reports indicated that the incident appeared to be accidental, as the Albacete player was attempting to make contact with the ball rather than deliberately target his opponent.
The incident left players and spectators concerned as attention shifted from the match to Liameed's condition. Further updates on the player's recovery and medical condition were awaited.
