Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced the signing of Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana as the Soweto giants continue strengthening their squad for the Betway Premiership season.
The 27-year-old joins Amakhosi as a free agent after spending the past two seasons playing outside South Africa. His arrival gives Chiefs another attacking option as they look to improve their performances and compete for silverware.
Mokwana was born in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga, and has worked his way up through South African football. He first attracted attention while playing for Gemsbok Classic in the ABC Motsepe League before moving to Platinum City Rovers.
His performances eventually earned him a move to Sekhukhune United in May 2022. He became an important player at the club, making more than 50 league appearances over two seasons.
His progress also opened the door to international football. Mokwana received his first Bafana Bafana call-up in November 2023 and was part of the South African team that finished third at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
In 2024, he left Sekhukhune United to join Tunisian club Espérance Sportive de Tunis. During his time in Tunisia, he was part of a team that won the league title, Tunisian Cup and Tunisian Super Cup.
He later moved to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hazem on loan in August 2025. During his spell there, he made 24 appearances and scored against Al-Taawoun.
His return to South Africa now presents a new opportunity to make his mark at one of the country's biggest football clubs.
Chiefs supporters will be hoping the winger brings speed, creativity and goals to the attacking department.
Mokwana's signing comes at an important time for Amakhosi, who will be looking to build a stronger team and improve their position in the league.
