Real Madrid Injury Boost: Fede Valverde Set For Training Return After Clásico Scare
Real Madrid have received encouraging news regarding the fitness of Federico Valverde after medical assessments reportedly ruled out a serious injury following his withdrawal from the recent El Clásico against Barcelona.
The Uruguayan midfielder is expected to return to full team training on Saturday, 31 October, as José Mourinho's side prepare for their La Liga encounter against Racing Santander. However, Valverde has admitted that he is not yet completely fit, meaning the club will continue monitoring his condition before making a final decision about his availability.
Speaking to Spanish television programme El Chiringuito, the Real Madrid captain offered an honest assessment of his recovery.
“I am not 100% yet,” Valverde said, although he indicated that his condition was improving.
His comments will interest Real Madrid supporters, particularly considering how important he has become to the team's performances this season.
Concerns emerged after Valverde experienced discomfort in his right hamstring during Real Madrid's 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the Clásico on 25 October.
The midfielder initially attempted to continue playing but eventually had to leave the pitch after struggling with the problem. His withdrawal immediately raised questions about whether Madrid could lose one of their most influential players during an important period of the campaign.
Fortunately for the Spanish giants, subsequent medical examinations reportedly found no significant injury.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, the discomfort was not considered serious, and the expectation was that Valverde would be able to resume group training on Saturday.
That development represents a positive boost for Mourinho, who will be keen to avoid losing key players as the season enters another demanding phase.
Valverde's importance to Real Madrid goes beyond his ability to contribute in midfield. His energy, tactical intelligence, versatility and willingness to work defensively make him one of the team's most valuable players.
He has also demonstrated his ability to operate in different positions when required, giving Mourinho additional tactical options.
However, the fact that the 27-year-old is not yet feeling 100% means the coaching staff must carefully assess his readiness.
Real Madrid face Racing Santander on Sunday, 1 November, and the final decision regarding Valverde's involvement will depend on his progress during the remaining preparations.
With several important fixtures approaching, rushing him back could create unnecessary complications.
Valverde's expected return to training will certainly encourage Madrid supporters, especially after the concern surrounding his condition during the Clásico.
The midfielder has already shown his importance to the team, and his impressive performance against Barcelona underlined why Mourinho values his contribution.
