South African football legend Quinton Fortune has encouraged his former club, Manchester United, to pursue a move for England striker Harry Kane, believing the experienced forward could help address the club’s attacking challenges.

Fortune, who previously played for United, reportedly wants the Premier League side to make a serious effort to secure Kane’s services, despite concerns about the striker’s age and the potential cost of a transfer.

The former Bafana Bafana international believes Kane’s achievements and proven quality make him an ideal candidate to strengthen United’s forward line as the club looks to regain its competitiveness.

Kane has established himself as one of Europe’s leading goalscorers, earning recognition for his finishing, movement and ability to contribute to team play. His experience at the highest level could also provide valuable leadership in a squad seeking greater consistency.

However, signing the striker would not necessarily be straightforward. Any potential deal would depend on his contractual circumstances, the financial terms involved and whether his current club would be willing to negotiate.

United would also need to consider whether investing heavily in an established player fits their long-term recruitment strategy.

Although Fortune believes the club should act decisively, there is no confirmation that Manchester United are preparing a formal offer for Kane.

For now, the former midfielder’s comments have added to the debate over the kind of high-profile signing United need to strengthen their attack and improve their fortunes.
