Doctor Khumalo Returns to Naturena for Kaizer Motaung’s Blessings After Landing Major SAFA Role

Doctor Khumalo, a legend with the Kaizer Chiefs, has come to Naturena Village to seek the blessings of Dr. Kaizer Motaung, the club chairman, after being appointed vice-chairperson of the SAFA Technical Committee.

The visit serves to underscore the lasting bond between Khumalo, who is fondly referred to as "16V," and the club where he became one of the most renowned players in South Africa. As the former Bafana Bafana international is ready to make an administrative contribution to the growth of football, it is also a significant time.

The freshly elected National Executive Committee of SAFA met in Sandton to ratify Khumalo's nomination. In his new role as deputy to Jack Maluleke, head of the Technical Committee, he will help handle crucial technical issues impacting South African football.

A number of important functions are carried out by the committee, including the evaluation of national team performances, the suggestion of coaching appointments, the identification of prospective players, and the support of coaching development.

Khumalo has a wealth of knowledge to offer to the role, having had a stellar playing career before transitioning to coaching and analysis. As SAFA seeks to fortify the country's football infrastructure, his knowledge of the game, acquired through years of participation at all levels, might be useful.

Among the most remarkable feats in South African football history is the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations victory, which he was a part of with the legendary Bafana Bafana side.

In his remarks after being appointed, Khumalo thanked Motaung, Irvin Khoza, Danny Jordaan, the president of SAFA, and his family for their support during his journey.

By making another appearance at Naturena, the Chiefs great has further cemented his bond with the venue that had a formative role in his career. There will be great expectations for Khumalo to put his expertise to use in his new role, helping coaches, players, and national teams grow.

The visit serves as a poignant reminder to Amakhosi fans of the enduring impact of a legendary character from the club's history.
