The Proteas have fought back in sensational fashion against Australia at St George’s Park in Gqeberha, levelling the series at 1-1 heading into the final Test in Cape Town next week.

Wiaan Mulder and Kagiso Rabada played starring roles as South Africa secured a comprehensive victory. The win comes after the Proteas suffered a heavy defeat in the first Test in Durban.

South Africa’s disciplined performance with both bat and ball proved decisive. The home side showed the fight and consistency that had been missing in the opening match of the series.

Captain Temba Bavuma later praised the team’s ruthlessness and application, describing the display as “good old Test cricket.”

The result sets up a series-deciding final Test in Cape Town. Momentum is now with the Proteas after a strong showing in Gqeberha, where the conditions and crowd support played their part.

Supporters and the cricket community have welcomed the turnaround, with the side showing clear signs of improvement after the setback in Durban.

Attention now turns to the decisive third Test, where both teams will look to claim the series.
