Reports claiming that South African midfielder Patrick “Tito” Maswanganyi and Bahraini club Al-Khaldiya SC have mutually agreed to terminate his contract have been dismissed, with a source insisting that the player remains with the club.
Speculation about the former Orlando Pirates midfielder’s future spread across social media over the weekend, with some reports suggesting that his alleged departure was linked to disciplinary issues. However, those claims have been disputed by people close to the player.
A source quoted by Africa Soccer rejected the reports, stating that Maswanganyi was still part of the club and had featured in action over the weekend.
“There is no truth to those reports. He is still with the club and played over the weekend. The club appreciates him, and he is happy,” the source said.
Maswanganyi’s representative and long-time confidant, Arnold Rankoko, also strongly denied the claims, describing them as false information that could damage the midfielder’s reputation.
Rankoko expressed frustration that reports about the alleged contract termination had circulated without journalists first contacting the player, his representatives or the club for confirmation.
He maintained that Maswanganyi remained committed to his career in Bahrain and was preparing for upcoming fixtures rather than seeking an immediate departure.
The 28-year-old joined Al-Khaldiya in August 2026 after ending his spell with Orlando Pirates, where he established himself as an influential attacking midfielder. His move to Bahrain marked a new chapter in his career after helping the Soweto giants achieve success in South African football.
The rumours have drawn attention because of the midfielder’s profile in South Africa and the expectations surrounding his move abroad. However, the latest statements indicate that reports of a mutual contract termination should not be treated as confirmed.
For now, Maswanganyi remains associated with Al-Khaldiya, and his immediate focus is understood to be continuing his career with the Bahraini club.
