Wiliete SC head coach Beto Bianchi has expressed his pride in his players after the Angolan side produced a memorable result by eliminating Mamelodi Sundowns from the CAF Champions League on Friday night.

The Angolan club delivered an impressive performance to knock out the South African giants, who entered the competition as defending champions. The victory marked a significant achievement for Wiliete SC, particularly because they managed to end Sundowns' campaign on their home ground.

Reacting to the result, Bianchi highlighted the significance of defeating a team with Sundowns' reputation, experience and resources in African football.

The coach emphasised how special the achievement was, pointing out that overcoming such an established continental opponent on its own turf is not something that happens every day.

"It's not every day you beat Sundowns in their own home," was the message behind Bianchi's reaction to the memorable victory.

For Wiliete SC, the result represents an important milestone as the club continues to establish itself in African football. Facing Sundowns was always going to be a difficult challenge, given the South African side's experience in continental competitions and its recent success at the highest level.

However, Wiliete showed determination and resilience to secure the result, bringing Sundowns' hopes of defending their Champions League title to an unexpected end.

The achievement is expected to provide a significant confidence boost for Bianchi and his players as they prepare for their upcoming challenges. Eliminating a club of Sundowns' stature also demonstrates the importance of teamwork, tactical discipline and concentration when facing stronger and more experienced opponents.

Bianchi's reaction also offered an opportunity to acknowledge the collective effort of his squad, whose performance helped the Angolan side achieve a result that will be remembered by the club and its supporters.

Meanwhile, Sundowns are now left to reflect on a disappointing end to their continental campaign. Having entered the tournament with ambitions of retaining their African crown, their elimination represents a major setback for the Tshwane-based outfit.

For Wiliete SC, however, defeating the defending champions is a moment to celebrate and a significant achievement that could strengthen the club's confidence and ambitions in future continental competitions.
