Wiliete Sport Clube de Benguela is at the centre of social media speculation following reports alleging that the Angolan club could face disqualification from the CAF Champions League over winger Gilberto's eligibility.
However, claims that Wiliete could be eliminated because Gilberto is allegedly still registered with Orlando Pirates have been described as false.
According to the information circulating in response to the rumours, Orlando Pirates had already parted ways with Gilberto before his return to Angola, where he joined Wiliete Benguela on a permanent transfer.
Gilberto has also featured in Wiliete's continental campaign, including the first preliminary round against Foresters, where he reportedly scored without any eligibility issues being raised.
Furthermore, there have been no confirmed reports of formal protests or administrative complaints from Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates or the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over the player's registration.
Wiliete Benguela secured their place in the next stage of the competition after eliminating defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns on the away-goals rule following a 1-1 aggregate draw.
For now, the disqualification claims remain unsubstantiated, and supporters are advised to distinguish between verified information and speculation circulating on social media.
Wiliete's progress in the competition has attracted considerable attention following Sundowns' unexpected exit, but any claims of an eligibility dispute should be supported by official statements from the relevant football authorities.
