Sibisi Clarifies Ouaddou's Message as Pirates Coach Seeks Greater Performance from Players

Nkosinathi Sibisi, the captain of Orlando Pirates, has clarified head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou's recent statements regarding the team's necessity for increased ruthlessness in goal-scoring, emphasizing that the coach's words were misinterpreted.

Under Ouaddou's guidance, the Buccaneers have seen positive developments, with the coaching staff prioritizing an aggressive playing style, high standards, and the importance of capitalizing on scoring chances.

However, the coach expressed concerns about his players' mindset regarding finishing games, indicating that they should not settle after scoring a few goals when more opportunities are available.

These comments have drawn attention, with some fans perceiving them as criticisms of the players' performances. Sibisi believes, though, that the coach's intent was to uphold the standards expected at a club aspiring to secure major trophies.

In discussing the situation, the Pirates captain stated that Ouaddou's remarks were meant to motivate the team to retain their drive and continue striving for more, regardless of the score.

"I think our coach has been misunderstood; it’s about the standard he has set at the club. If we can score eight, why be satisfied with three? We need to aim for as many goals as possible," Sibisi explained.

His remarks come at a crucial time as the Buccaneers prepare for the eagerly awaited Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium. Sibisi believes the squad has positively embraced the coach's expectations and recognizes the responsibilities of representing one of South Africa's top football clubs.

The defender also emphasized the significance of goal difference in a competitive league, noting that each additional goal could be pivotal in the title race.

Sibisi's comments should reassure Pirates fans that there is a united front between the coach and players. Ouaddou's expectations seem to be part of a larger strategy to cultivate a winning mindset and prevent the team from becoming complacent.

With the Soweto Derby on the horizon, Pirates are eager to prove that their attacking ambitions can result in another impressive performance.
