Makaab Reveals Why Sibande Decided to Leave Egypt and Return Home
The decision by Sibande to end his stay in Egypt and return home has been explained by his representative, ProSport International CEO Makaab, who has shed light on the circumstances surrounding the player's departure.
According to Makaab, the midfielder's decision was mainly influenced by his inability to settle comfortably into the environment in Egypt. Although his departure might raise questions about his experience at the club, the agent clarified that the situation was not connected to any problems with the club itself.
Speaking to KickOff, Makaab explained that Sibande personally requested a move back after struggling to feel comfortable with his surroundings. He stressed that the player's decision was based on his personal experience rather than dissatisfaction with the club or its management.
“In all honesty, he wasn’t happy in Egypt and that happens sometimes. When I say not happy, nothing to do with the club. He just didn’t feel comfortable in the environment and he requested a move back,” Makaab, CEO of ProSport International, told KickOff.
His comments suggest that adapting to a new country and environment can sometimes prove challenging for footballers, even when their professional arrangements are not necessarily problematic. Moving abroad often requires players to adjust to different lifestyles, cultures and daily routines, which can influence their overall comfort and happiness.
For Sibande, returning home was considered the preferred option after he struggled to settle in Egypt. His request was therefore centred on finding an environment where he could feel more comfortable and focus on his football career.
Makaab's explanation also makes it clear that the player's departure should not be interpreted as a disagreement with his former club. Instead, it was a personal decision influenced by circumstances outside the footballing relationship.
The development highlights the importance of a player's personal well-being when making career decisions, particularly when moving abroad. Although playing in another country can offer valuable opportunities, feeling comfortable outside the pitch remains an important part of a footballer's professional journey.
