Star batter Virat Kohli brought a touch of WWE entertainment to the first ODI between New Zealand and India after being spotted performing John Cena’s iconic ‘You Can’t See Me’ celebration in front of Glenn Phillips.
The light-hearted moment during the series opener quickly caught cricket fans’ attention, with the video going viral on social media.
The incident occurred during New Zealand’s innings, when the visitors were at 84/4 after 17 overs. Daryl Mitchell was batting on 20, while Phillips was yet to get off the mark. As the two Kiwi batters were at the crease, Kohli made the familiar hand gesture associated with former WWE champion John Cena.
The celebration involves moving a hand in front of the face, suggesting the person doing it is so good, strong, and fast that the opponent can’t even keep up with him. It has become one of Cena’s most recognisable signatures during his wrestling career and is popular among fans globally.
Kohli appeared to direct the gesture towards Phillips, turning the moment into a playful exchange on the field. The video clip has since drawn attention from cricket followers, with many enjoying the Indian star’s humorous take on the famous wrestling celebration.

Kohli is known for his aggressive approach and animated presence on the cricket field. His celebrations, reactions and exchanges with opposition players often become talking points among fans. However, the latest moment showed a more playful side of the former India captain.
The reference to Cena also made the incident particularly entertaining, as the wrestler’s signature gesture is instantly recognisable even among people who do not regularly follow WWE. Kohli recreating it during an international cricket match added an unexpected crossover between the two sports.
Meanwhile, Phillips was at the crease alongside Mitchell as New Zealand looked to build their innings. The gesture came after India had already taken four wickets, with Arshdeep Singh among the wicket-takers.
It provided an entertaining moment in the contest and soon became a topic of discussion even beyond the game’s confines. Kohli’s celebration once again showed how even a small on-field interaction can capture fans’ imagination online.
