Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka suffered a suspected ankle injury in the first half of a Serie A match against Monza and was stretchered off in tears.

Napoli star Lobotka suffered a suspected ankle injury in the 15th minute of an away Serie A match at Monza.

Why Lobotka was subbed off during Monza vs. Napoli

The Slovakia international was stretchered off, practically in tears. He was particularly unlucky as Ricardo Mangas fell on him, and his ankle got caught underneath and twisted badly. Scotland international Billy Gilmour replaced him.

As reported by Sky Sport Italia and Gazzetta, the experienced midfielder was quickly taken to the hospital for X-rays to assess his injury.

Lobotka has scored one goal in eight Serie A appearances under Massimiliano Allegri this season.

Tonight, the Tuscan tactician is not on the dug-out, serving the first of a two-game ban.
