Resurgent KCCA target fourth consecutive win in Lugazi Clash
Emmanuel Anyama has scored two of KCCA's four goals this season

Overview:

On the other side of the pitch, Abel Kikomeko’s Lugazi side knows that a historic victory at Lugogo would see them leapfrog KCCA in the standings. To pull off the upset, the visitors will pin their goalscoring hopes heavily on the shoulders of dangerous forward Cromwell Rwothomio.

After a sluggish start to the season, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) will be hunting for their fourth consecutive Uganda Premier League victory when they host Lugazi FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, this Wednesday.

The Kasasiro Boys endured a frustrating opening to the campaign, failing to register a single win in their first three fixtures. However, manager Brian Ssenyondo has masterfully steered the ship back on course. KCCA are now on a hot three-game winning streak and remain unbeaten in their last four outings, climbing up to 9th place on the log with 10 points.

Focus on Intensity over Opposition

Despite KCCA’s favoritism at home, Ssenyondo is refusing to take the visitors lightly. Lugazi FC, currently sitting 12th with 8 points, travel to Lugogo on the back of impressive, hard-fought stalemates against league leaders BUL FC and traditional heavyweights Express FC.

“We don’t want to dwell on the opposition so much. We want to focus more on what we can do best,” Ssenyondo told the media ahead of the clash. “If we come out and play our way, attack with the right intensity and tempo, we are the better team and can beat anyone on the day.”

He emphasized the team’s burning desire for maximum points: “It’s all about us, not the opponent. We respect them, but we want to win so badly every game we play.”

Overcoming the Floodlight Disruption

This match marks KCCA’s return to full competitive action following their bizarre, abandoned fixture against UPDF FC last week, which was called off after just eight minutes due to a sudden floodlight failure. While both clubs await an official ruling from the FUFA Judicial Committee regarding that game, Ssenyondo’s men have remained entirely focused on the training pitch.

Historically, the statistics heavily favor the hosts. KCCA remains unbeaten in their four previous competitive meetings against the Najjembe-based side (W2, D2). However, the Kasasiro Boys will remember the caution required after being held to a stubborn goalless draw in the corresponding fixture last season.

Squad News and Key Battles

The home side received a massive shot in the arm with medical staff declaring influential midfielders Ibrahim Kasule and Brian Jjara fully fit and available for selection. The former’s creativity will be vital in unlocking a disciplined Lugazi defensive unit.
