Warri Wolves have received heavy disciplinary penalties from the Nigeria Premier Football League after crowd trouble during Sunday’s Matchday 10 fixture against Kano Pillars in Ozoro.
The NPFL imposed a ₦4.2 million fine on the club, known as the Seasiders, and deducted three points and three goals from its existing league record.
The league said Warri Wolves did not put sufficient stadium security arrangements in place, a failure that led to match officials being attacked after the final whistle.
The NPFL said the second assistant referee suffered an injury to the nose and was bleeding during the incident.
Warri Wolves have been granted 48 hours from the date of the disciplinary notice to challenge the sanctions through an appeal.
