Who is first Portuguese player to score for Real Madrid after Cristiano Ronaldo?

Silva scored his first goal for the Spanish club.

Cristiano Ronaldo Real Madrid

Bernardo Silva became the first Portuguese player to score for Real Madrid since Cristiano Ronaldo. He scored his first goal for Real Madrid in a UEFA Champions League match against RB Leipzig, ending an eight-year drought since Cristiano Ronaldo scored for the club in 2018.

Silva finally opened his account for Madrid when he further extended Los Blancos’ lead in the game. They cruised to a convincing win (4-1) against the German giants.

The Real Madrid midfielder scored the team’s first goal against RB Leipzig, his first as a Madridista, and spoke to the club’s media after the match.

“I am very happy to have won this game and scored my first goal with this jersey. It was a tough match, where I think we were much better in the second half than in the first. In the first half, we created some chances but also allowed them to approach our goal quite a bit.

“Thibaut was very important for us. In the second half, we controlled the game much better, and in the end, we secured a good victory. We are happy and will keep moving forward,” he said.

Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the greatest goalscorers the club has witnessed. His goalscoring record will certainly remain at the top as it’s unlikely that any player will break his goalscoring record.

Although Bernardo Silva has not been a prolific goalscorer in his career, the Portuguese midfielder has recorded many important goals in his playing career. He will look to build on his goalscoring form at the club.

Real Madrid will undoubtedly count on the midfielder to deliver in every game. The former Manchester City star will hope to add more trophies to his career at Madrid.
