Duty calls once more for five Buccaneers, who are set to represent their respective national teams during the upcoming November international break.
Club football is set to take another pause in the coming days, with international action taking centre stage for the second time this season. Across the continent, the action will be dominated by AFCON qualifiers, with South Africa among the nations resuming their bid to secure a place in the showpiece event, set to be held in East Africa from June 2027.
Leading the way in their group ahead of the November international window are Bafana Bafana, who once again boast the largest Buccaneers contingent among the three nations. Head coach Pitso Mosimane finalised his 27-man squad on Thursday, retaining the core group of players who featured in the three international matches played in September.
Goalkeeper Sipho Chaine has once again been rewarded for his consistency between the sticks and has earned a call-up alongside defender Lebone Seema. The latter made his debut off the bench in the 5-0 victory over Eritrea before earning his first start in South Africa’s 1-0 friendly victory over Egypt.
The ever-present Thalente Mbatha completes the midfield contingent as he returns to the fold following an injury-enforced spell on the sidelines. Meanwhile, the tried-and-tested attacking duo of Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi take the number of Buccaneers in the squad to five.
Bafana will face co-hosts Kenya in back-to-back fixtures, beginning with next Friday’s encounter at Orlando Amstel Arena. They will conclude their November international commitments with a trip to Nairobi, where they will take on Kenya at Nyayo Stadium on Tuesday, 17 November.
