Toto Wolff forbade Mercedes from generating championship t-shirts for Kimi Antonelli. Antonelli became the youngest F1 World Championship winner since Sebastian Vettel by finishing third at the Mexican GP. F1 fans knew he was going to be crowned champion, as he only needed to finish 9th to secure his first title. However, Wolff was taking nothing for granted. He did not allow any coronation shirts to be made for this weekend, as he felt that was bad luck.

It was one of many measures those within Mercedes and Antonelli's family made to avoid putting pressure on the young Italian. The 20-year-old's family also did their bit by arriving in Mexico late to avoid distracting him.

When the championship was secured, Antonelli went on to have an emotional embrace with his family. Not arriving in Mexico City until later was their way of helping him win.

Wolff also did everything he could, even reverting to superstituous means, like his ban on commemoratory shirts. The Mercedes team principal did not have his eyes everywhere, as some members of his team made a 'Champion of the world' hat for Antonelli, along with his own personalised shirt.

It was the perfect end of a highly emotional weekend of racing for Antonelli. Speaking after the race, Antonelli admitted to feeling emotional when he was driving into the final laps of the race.

He said: "I think I lost probably two seconds because I was already crying. I couldn't see clearly ahead - and I could see two Ferraris somehow with the tears!

"A lot of memories went through my mind in that moment. All the memories since karting. So, it was a very special final lap and definitely, when I crossed the line, I let it all out because achieving one of my biggest dreams is very special.

"To be able to share this moment, to witness this moment with my whole family, with my team, and for my friends as well, it's a moment that will be always remembered."

There are still four races left before the season comes to an end. Considering how fastidious Wolff is, he will not allow Antonelli to take his foot off the gas.
