Pakistan Secures Historic First Win at FIFA U-15 World Cup

Pakistan’s Under-15 football team registered its first victory at the FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival 2026 in Azerbaijan, defeating Tonga 6-1 in a dominant performance led by Kaleem Ullah, who scored four goals.

The victory came after Pakistan held Jordan and Nigeria to 1-1 draws in its previous matches, earning its first two points of the tournament.

Tonga took an early lead through a penalty in the sixth minute, but Pakistan responded immediately as Kaleem Ullah equalized from the penalty spot just a minute later.

He put Pakistan ahead in the 13th minute with a header from a cross on the right before completing his hat-trick with another penalty in first-half stoppage time.

Pakistan continued its attacking display in the second half, with Kaleem Ullah scoring his fourth goal through another header after receiving a kick-in from the left.

Maqbool Ahmed added Pakistan’s fifth goal with a powerful long-range strike, while Muhammad Mustafa completed the scoring with a well-placed finish following an attacking move down the left.

Pakistan dominated much of the contest and created several more scoring opportunities, securing a convincing victory after falling behind early in the match.

Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Syed Mohsen Gilani, who attended the match, congratulated the players on becoming the first Pakistani team to record a victory on the FIFA World Cup stage.

Gilani also praised the coaching staff and team management for preparing the squad and highlighted the importance of international exposure for young Pakistani footballers. He expressed hope that more opportunities would become available for the players to compete against teams from different regions.

The inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival is being held in Azerbaijan from October 22 to 31, 2026, with matches taking place at several venues in Baku, including the Hovsan Competition Complex.

Pakistan is making its first appearance at a FIFA World Cup event under head coach Ihsanullah Khan, who selected a 14-member squad for the tournament.
