Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma faced severe backlash from fans after a blunder in the Champions League, allowing RB Leipzig to score an easy goal.
The frustration was so palpable that some fans argued that Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique was justified in excluding Donnarumma, 27, from his lineup in 2025.
The goalkeeper found himself well off his line just four minutes after the second half started.
This left a gaping hole in his net, allowing Leipzig’s Ridle Baku to convert from a difficult angle, bringing the score to 1-1 at the Red Bull Arena.
Furious fans quickly took to social media to criticize the Italian international.
Many expressed that this mistake validated Enrique, 56, who had previously omitted Donnarumma from his squad despite a stellar 2024/25 season, which included a remarkable treble, capped by a first Champions League win.

Leipzig equalized once more, but this time Donnarumma was blameless as he couldn’t stop Antonio Nusa’s shot.
Fortunately for the Italian, Erling Haaland rescued him with a late goal following a brilliant assist from Elliot Anderson.
